She’s cute, right? But she can also stop a police car with her bare hands. That’s our loveable little Yato for you. Kagura is possibly my favourite manga and anime heroine because she undermines every cliche, stereotypical female role. I feel quite proud of the fact that she is the first girl to vomit in Jump for some reason. Gintama is full of amazing girls, but she stands out especially. One moment your teeth hurt because she can be so damn cute, the next you’re weeping buckets, then your sides hurt from laughing so hard because she’s said something extremely silly or dirty. I could go for hours explaining why she is such an amazing heroine, but I’m trying to keep it short. Perhaps one of the most complex of the Gintama characters, as Kagura’s own story is slowly revealed to us we begin to see a tormented, conflicted young woman rather than just the adorable little girl who can catch bullets with her teeth.
